ROLE OF THE CYPRUS C3A EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The C3A Executive Committee is the representative body for the C3A branches in Cyprus. It underpins the work of local C3A branches by providing support to their management committees and to individual members and assists in the development of new C3A branches across Cyprus. The Cyprus C3A is funded entirely by annual subscriptions paid by C3A districts on a per capita basis.

The new association will hold the Cyprus registration Certificate. The branches and any new districts will then not be required to register individually.

The branches are independently managed with their own constitutions. Membership of the C3A Association is a requirement in order to use the C3A name, but, providing the aims and guiding principles of the organisation are adhered to, local C3A districts are self governing.

C3A branches are self-help, self managed lifelong learning co-operative for people no longer in full time work, providing opportunity for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.

The Executive Committee acts as a central registry for the C3A branches and individuals seeking information about the nearest C3A branch etc. It fosters the development of the C3A as a whole mostly by assisting new C3A branches to set themselves up. It can act as the main body through which the C3A can be represented to other organisations in this country and abroad. It promotes and increases awareness of the C3A movement throughout Cyprus.

It has given grants to the branches towards purchase of equipment. It funds the web site and the spotlight news letter and provides cohesion to the C3A movement.
